Entrion Wind has been granted its third patent, further strengthening the intellectual property foundation supporting the company’s Fully Restrained Platform (FRP) monopile technology for offshore wind foundations.

The newly granted patent, “Mooring Systems for Fixed Marine Structures” (U.S. 12,600,436 B2), covers systems and methods for connecting, tensioning, adjusting, and maintaining mooring lines on fixed marine structures, including FRP monopile foundations used to support offshore wind turbines.

The patent describes multiple configurations of Entrion’s Top Mooring Assembly (TMA), including both mechanical and hydraulic approaches for applying and maintaining precise mooring-line tension. These systems are designed to restrain platform movement across all six degrees of freedom, supporting stable turbine operation in intermediate and deeper water environments.

“This patent further confirms the strength and maturity of our approach to mooring and tensioning for fully restrained monopile foundations,” said Li Lee, Vice President and Co-Founder of Entrion Wind. “Our focus has been on developing solutions that are robust, adjustable, and compatible with real-world offshore installation and maintenance practices. Protecting these elements is an important step in de-risking industrialization and supporting pilot execution.”

Entrion’s FRP concept combines established offshore components—including monopiles, anchors, mooring lines, and transition pieces—with proprietary mooring and tensioning assemblies that enable controlled adjustment over the life of the structure. The approach is intended to extend the economic and technical applicability of monopile foundations beyond conventional water-depth limits.

“This approach is centered on enabling controlled stiffness and motion restraint using well-understood offshore components, while retaining the ability to inspect, adjust, and maintain the system over time,” Lee added. “That discipline is essential for bankability and long-term deployment.”

The patent forms part of Entrion Wind’s broader intellectual property portfolio covering FRP monopile design, mooring integration, and offshore deployment concepts. In parallel with ongoing certification, qualification, and pilot-stage activities, Entrion continues to advance its technology toward commercial readiness.
